"The Wages of Sin is DEATH" Romans 6:23
If the Bible says that the WAGE (salary) of sin is DEATH, it's because we work for it. Yes, we really do. Our "work", in this case, is the time, the energy, everything that we feed our sins, our harmless sins, our conscious sins, our unconscious sins, our "favorite" sins.... They are fed by us, by our minds, our souls, our unsatiable desire for power, pleasure, our vanity...
We are all so full of ourselves! How easy it is for us to fall!
I was meditating in the following verses today, John 8:34, Jesus explaining that "whoever commits AND practices sin is the slave of sin".
This is so true! We ARE slaves of our own sins! We cannot escape! I mean, the ONLY way to escape, is to ABIDE in HIS WORD, hold fast to HIS teachings and LIVE in accordance with them- then, Jesus complemented (John 8:31)- only then, you are TRULY my disciples.
And then, if we ARE his REAL disciples, then, only then, He will reveal the TRUTH for us and then, only then, THE TRUTH WILL SET US FREE.
If we just live in this theory (the TRUTH will set us free) and continue to rotten in our daily, trivial, used sins, we will NEVER find the TRUTH.
So.... Sanctify me, Jesus.... I'm still a slave of my sins....
